More Than 150 Standalone SQL Servers Had Created an Unmanageable Estate
As the client expanded, individual applications and projects were repeatedly assigned dedicated SQL Server environments. Over time, this created a fragmented estate of more than 150 standalone database servers.
The distributed architecture made operating system and SQL Server patching difficult to coordinate. Backup processes, integrity checks, index maintenance and monitoring practices varied between servers, leaving the IT team with limited visibility and inconsistent operational control.
The environment also lacked a unified High Availability and Disaster Recovery strategy. Many business-critical applications depended on single database servers with no automatic failover path.
Licensing had become another major concern. Hundreds of underutilized processor cores were licensed across isolated SQL Server Enterprise environments, creating substantial cost without delivering equivalent capacity or resiliency.

A Centralized Always On Architecture Designed Around Legacy Compatibility
Aryasoft combined workload assessment, capacity planning, application-transparent routing, security hardening and centralized automation to consolidate the SQL Server estate without transferring its existing operational risks.
Estate Inventory and Consolidation Assessment
Aryasoft inventoried database workloads, application dependencies, performance profiles, security models, maintenance requirements and licensed capacity across the full SQL Server estate.
Three-Node Always On Architecture
The new design used two synchronous-commit replicas for High Availability and automatic failover, with an asynchronous replica in a remote data center for Disaster Recovery.
Zero-Code-Change Connection Routing
Legacy server hostnames were preserved through controlled DNS aliases mapped to the relevant Availability Group listener endpoints. Existing applications continued using their original connection strings while gaining native failover routing.
Security Hardening and Least Privilege
Default administrator accounts were disabled, excessive permissions were removed and access was rebuilt around the Principle of Least Privilege, application service identities and auditable role structures.
Phased Migration and Centralized Automation
Databases were moved in controlled waves with validation and rollback criteria. Backups, DBCC CHECKDB, index maintenance, monitoring, alerting and patching were then standardized across the consolidated platform.
